Assistant Superintendent

Webb's Reserve Golf Club is a modern, luxury 18-hole golfing community currently under construction. The project is located in the Babcock Ranch community of Punta Gorda, FL. The golf course is being designed by The Nicklaus Design team. The property is managed by Troon Golf. 9 Golf holes are bordered and/or adjacent to nature preserve providing a unique, picturesque golf setting. The golf course will feature over 20 lakes and a large aqua driving range for members and guests. Tif-Eagle putting surfaces, Bimini bermudagrass fairways, tees and rough.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: assisting with the oversight of the overall maintenance practices of the golf course, ensuring planting and cultural practices involved in growing various turf grasses, trees and ornamental plants are followed, proper mixing, handling and application of chemicals and fertilizers, proper use and maintenance of equipment, lead, direct and train employees regarding safe performance practices.

Formal schooling in agronomy, horticulture, plant/soil science with related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.

A valid FL driver's license, Florida pesticide applicator's license or ability to obtain.

Ability to work outdoors in various climates and list and/or move up to 100 pounds is necessary.

Assists in the oversight of the overall maintenance of the golf course. Ensures the proper application and handling of chemicals and fertilizers.

Key Responsibilities of the Assistant Superintendent:

  • Works with the Superintendent to ensure that the annual golf course maintenance budget and capital plans are maintained and followed.
  • Supervises and assists maintenance staff in daily duties.
  • Assists in the planning, organizing and direction of the maintenance and construction of putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkers.
  • Supervises the planting and cultural practices involved in growing various turf grasses, trees and ornamental plants.
  • Ensures that maintenance equipment is properly operating and reporting issues appropriately to Equipment Managers.
  • Assists in the procurement of supplies and materials and ensures costs remain within budgetary limitations.
  • Keeps records of annual maintenance activities and costs and assists with the preparation of required prepares reports.
  • Ensures all company policies and procedures are followed including compliance with government regulations.
  • Manages department members that may include, but is not limited to: Mechanic, Environmental Technician, Equipment Operator, Foreman, Greenskeeper, and Irrigation Technician.
  • Assures that effective orientation and training are given to each new associate. Develops ongoing training programs.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.

Physical Demands: 

  • Regularly stands, walks and sits. Regularly uses hands, reaches with arms and hands, talks or hears. Regularly lifts up to 50 pounds
