Assistant Superintendent

Rhode Island Country Club is seeking a personable, engaging, highly motivated individual with a "can do" attitude to join our team as an Assistant Superintendent.  Overlooking Narragansett Bay, our 18-hole, par 71 championship golf course is currently ranked #8 in the state by Golf Digest. The course is challenging and exciting for players of all skill levels.

The Assistant Superintendent will be involved in all aspects of Rhode Island Country Club’s Turfgrass Maintenance Department.  The individual will desire to be in an environment that cultivates new skills, learning, and development, regardless of experience levels. 

The position reports to the Golf Course Superintendent and Lead Assistant Superintendent.

  • PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT - Emphasis on preparing the individual for becoming a Golf Course Superintendent or the next step in their careers through structured training and continued education.

  • ADVANCED TECHNICAL TRAINING - Agronomic program that has proven results (External Drill and Fill company providing work in late August) and latest technology programs to optimize course conditioning.
  • EXPOSURE TO ONGOING PROJECT MANAGEMENT - Master Plan work with Ian Andrew on the horizon.
  • NETWORK - Strengthen your existing professional network with our connectivity with leading industry experts including Golf Course Superintendents, industry suppliers, academia, and consultants.

INITIAL PRIORITIES OF POSITION:

  • Involvement in all of the aspects of the golf course property
  • Fertilizer and chemical applications
  • Irrigation repair and application
  • Course set-up, and mowing
  • Perform all the physical tasks involved with a landscape-oriented department.
  • There will be specific training for any task the individual is involved in.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

  • Compensation - $60,000 - $65,000, DOE
  • 401K

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Working towards a certificate, degree or continuing education in turfgrass management, landscape or related-field.
  • 1-3 seasons on the golf course preferably, but would consider those with transferrable skills.
  • Good attitude, ambitious, team player, and willing to learn.

ABOUT US:

Welcome to Rhode Island Country Club, a 1911 Donald Ross Design located in Barrington, Rhode Island. The course, situated on 200 picturesque acres is a combination of parkland, wooded and seaside holes, with the final four holes located on beautiful Narragansett Bay. RICC offers magnificent views of the Bay and its islands, which are connected by three towering suspension bridges. Consistently ranked as a top classic golf course, it has hosted four USGA championships and is home of the CVS Charity Classic.

Educational Requirements
