Assistant Superintendent

Full-time

Are you interested in being part of a great Team at a top Club that cares about your professional development?  Then this may be the perfect opportunity for you!

Martis Camp is currently seeking self-motivated, detail-oriented candidates for an Assistant Superintendent position.  This position will work under the supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent and will work with two other Assistant Superintendents.  We are lucky to care for a 2,200-acre property that includes an 18-hole championship Fazio course, an 18 hole “putting park”, a 11-acre practice facility and several tennis/bocce courts, sports fields, amenity parks and miles of creeks and trials.

Due to the size of our property, and the fast-paced seasonal environment we operate in, our assistants are expected to operate with limited supervision and are empowered to make their own decisions.  Our assistants are exposed to many different situations and experiences which leads to the development of an individual’s problem-solving skills and increased confidence in managing high quality turf (and more importantly) a strong GCM team.  With the guidance of our senior leadership team, Martis Camp assistants are empowered to hone and craft their own work experience to ensure they are ready to become successful golf course superintendents and club leaders when the time is right.  Feel free to reach out and hear about all the cool experiences that our Team has been lucky to be part of!

Our Team is encouraged by membership to be on the cutting edge of golf course management.  We are involved in several studies with the USGA and UC Riverside conducting experiments ranging from Poa control studies, the benefits of wetting agents and the use of soil moisture meters.  We gather data daily to aid our decision making to ensure we are using our resources to the fullest and not wasting water or needlessly fertilizing.  Our Assistants are encouraged and expected to be part of our ever-evolving program…your experience and opinions will be valued!

Martis Camp is committed to providing championship level playing surfaces for our members on a daily basis.  We also understand the importance of hosting USGA and regional championship tournaments to help grow the game of golf and showcase our facilities and have hosted the following tournaments:

2011 Pacific Coast Amateur (Champion Chris Williams)

2013 USGA Boys Junior Championship (Champion Scottie Scheffler)

2023 USGA Senior Amateur (Champion Todd White)
