Position Summary:

This is a hands-on leadership position with responsibility in leading, directing, overseeing, assisting, training and coaching the staff. The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent will be responsible for all activities involved in golf course maintenance. Activities would include assisting in budgeting, developing agronomical plans, scheduling and then implementing the daily activities such as course setup, daily maintenance, cultural practices, chemical calibration and application, irrigation problem solving and repair and leading projects and enhancements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

·      Assisting in leading the team, delegating and assigning assignments, providing guidance, training, coaching and assistance and ensuring work is completed as expected and in a timely manner.

·      Assisting in the planning and scheduling of all maintenance activities and staff in the performance of grounds maintenance processes and procedures.

·      Assist in managing and overseeing chemical/fertilizer applications.

·      Inspecting turf conditions, advising Superintendent, recommending corrective action and implementing/overseeing corrective action.

·      Training staff and ensuring all safety policies and procedures are practiced and turf equipment and tools are safely and efficient operated, cared for and properly stored.

·      Monitoring and recognizing performance issues, couching staff and ensuring performance standards are met.

·      Complying and ensuring compliance with all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.

·      Communicating and interacting with members, coworkers, management, staff, the general public, and others in a professional and courteous manner and representing the Club in a positive manner.

·      Fills in for the Superintendent and the technicians when needed.

Qualifications (knowledge, skills and abilities):

·      Experience and knowledge in golf course maintenance.

·      Experience in leading golf course maintenance teams and projects.

·      Knowledge of pest control products and their applications.

·      Knowledge of turf chemical and fertilizer products and their applications.

·      Knowledge of irrigation utilization, drainage installation, repair and maintenance.

·      A current Florida pesticide license, or the ability to acquire a license.

·      A BS or Associates Degree in turf grass management, or related certificate or experience.

·      Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.

·      A valid Florida driver’s license in good standing
