Horticulturist
Belle Haven Country Club, a private establishment founded in 1924, is currently seeking a full-time Horticulturist / Landscape Manager to enhance the landscape and club facilities. The club, which boasts an 18-hole golf course overlooking the Potomac River, has undergone significant renovations in the past and is about to commence a $14 million facility enhancement program. This program will include the renovation of the short game area, the construction of four new pickle ball courts, and a lower-level clubhouse and patio renovation.
The responsibilities of the Horticulturist / Landscape Manager will include garden installation and maintenance, watering, Integrated Pest Management (IPM), interior plant care and replacement, spring and summer annual selection and planting, assisting in holiday decorating, aiding the culinary staff in managing the club's herb and vegetable garden, and scheduling and managing a small team.

Ideal candidates should possess a two-year or four-year degree in Horticulture or a related field or have equivalent experience and training. They should be personable, self-motivated, quality-driven, and passionate, with excellent communication and organizational skills. They should also have knowledge of plant materials and problem-solving skills, a basic understanding of IPM, equipment operation, and design principles. This is a hands-on role, and the candidate must be capable of performing landscaping activities, repetitive tasks, and lifting or moving 50 pounds. Candidates must also be available to work some weekend mornings, holidays, and occasional overtime. The successful candidate will report directly to the Director of Golf Course and Club Grounds.
