Spray/Applications Technician

Educational Requirements

  • Performs the calibration of all fertilizing and plant protection application equipment.
  • Performs the application of all fertilizers and plant protection products and documentation of.
  • Responsible for documenting all agronomic and/or construction events that occur on the golf course.
  • Responsible for soil/turf grass testing.
  • Assist with and/or perform irrigation troubleshooting, monitoring, and scheduling.
  • Assist in ensuring that the quality of all golf course maintenance tasks are to club standards, knowledge of machines, cups, etc..
  • Responsible for providing additional irrigation via hose watering or supplemental sprinkler operation to any areas that are lacking.
  • Responsible for weed control in all areas within the boundaries of the golf course: Including but not limited to identifying weed species and the chemicals necessary for control and application of products thereto.
  • Ensure that all traffic control ropes as well as boundary and hazard stakes are in the proper location and in a clean and organized fashion.
  • Responsible for ensuring that bunker maintenance is performed properly. Including but not limited to bunkers being raked correctly, bunker rakes being in the proper location and in good usable form, and weed free.
  • Ensure that tee markers are in the correct locations, directed in the proper direction, and adjusted correctly according to golfer participation.
  • Recognize irrigation problems and be able to repair them as/when necessary.
  • Maintain and operate all aspects of the irrigation pump house as/when necessary.
  • Is in charge of golf course operations in the absence of the Director and Assistant Superintendent.
  • Performs other duties as directed by Supervisor.

Experience Requirements

  • Prior golf course operation experience (two or more years preferred).
  • Must have a thorough understanding of daily maintenance and course preparation.
  • Must have working knowledge of all normally used golf course equipment and tools, be able to operate such, and possess the ability and willingness to train others in the safe and efficient operation thereof.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Understanding and knowledge of the game of golf.
  • Must have; or be able to obtain a non-commercial pesticide applicators license from the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry within 90 days of hire.
