Assistant Superintendent
Jefferson Landing, an award-winning golf course nestled in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, is seeking a course Assistant Superintendent. The resort community includes an impeccably manicured 18-hole golf course with bent grass fairways, tees, and greens and a new state-of-the-art practice facility. In addition, plans are underway to expand the four-hole short course. Recently, the back nine and portions of the front have been renovated with work continuing into the spring of 2023 The Assistant Works under the direction of the Superintendent and under basic supervision will assist with the managing of staff, training, and special projects. The candidate must have an enthusiastic team-oriented attitude. He/she should be able to schedule and direct the crew so that tasks are executed accurately and in a timely manner. The Assistant should be able to substitute without disruption for the superintendent in his absence.
Will be able to calibrate sprayers and fertilize spreaders
Maintains chemical storage building and mixing area
Apply fertilizers correctly
Maintain proper recordkeeping
Maintain state pesticide license
Repairs and maintenance of irrigation system
Deep watering greens, tees, and fairways
Wilt watching
Course setup
Special projects
Keeping MSDS sheets up to date
Scouting for pests
Operate all equipment
Train employees to use equipment safe
Keep shop neat
Educational Requirements
2–4-year Turfgrass Degree or related field preferred.
Experience Requirements
2 or 3 years of work experience on a golf course preferred.
Special Requirements
Must be able to acquire a pesticide license.
