Assistant Superintendent
Vero Beach Country Club is looking for qualified applicants for our Assistant Superintendent position. VBCC is a private member owned club founded in 1924 located in Vero Beach Florida. We are currently celebrating our centennial which presents a great opportunity for the right individual to be a part of this historic year. VBCC is also the host site of the Grapefruit ProAM which is the oldest ProAm in the state of Florida and takes place every December.
The Assistant Superintendent will report directly to the Superintendent and be involved with building and executing the vision of the Golf Course Maintenance Department. This role will be a working and supervisory position with the opportunity to gain hands on experience in all facets of golf course maintenance. Representing yourself and the club in a professional manner at all times is a must. VBCC is comprised of Seashore Paspalum greens, tees, fairways, and roughs with some Bermuda mixed in throughout the course. We have some “deep rough” areas that are St. Augustine.
We are believers of a quality work/life balance and the schedule will reflect that. The typical work week consists of a long Monday (10-12) hours when we are closed, 8-9 hour Tuesdays-Thursdays, and 6 hour Fridays. This position would be responsible for covering every third weekend rotating with the Superintendent and AIT. If you work the weekend you will get the Friday before off. Weekends are typically “mow and go” but you would be on call for your weekend should anything come up.
We are in the process of creating an equipment replacement plan to ensure the club has the assets to provide the conditions expected at a top-quality private club. We have ordered new electric work carts for managers expected to be delivered in the next 2 months. We have a new Smithco GPS sprayer on order as well for later this year. Our John Deere lease goes through the first half of 2025 which consists of 2 Fairway mowers, a Rough unit, 3 triplexes, and 2 sand pros. The club owns all of our other equipment
