Assistant Superintendent
The Philadelphia Country Club is a private country club located just outside the city of Philadelphia. We are a 27 hole facility, the original 18 holes are a William Flynn design consisting of Bentgrass greens, tees and fairways. Our 9-hole course was recently renovated to include a full size driving range. Philadelphia Country Club has hosted the 1939 U.S. Open, 2003 Women's U.S. amateur tournaments. We will be co hosting the 2026 Men's U.S. Amateur tournament. In addition to golf the club has 9 hydro tennis courts, recently added 8 platform tennis courts, a large resort style pool and shooting lodge.
Assistants will work closely with the Director and Superintendent on every aspect of the daily operation of the course. Assistants will be involved in course setup, spray program and crew management. Working at the Philadelphia Country Club will provide the right candidates the opportunity to learn and advance their career in the turfgrass industry.
Educational Requirements
Completion of a turfgrass program
Experience Requirements
Previous golf course experience. This would be an ideal position for a recent turf graduate.
Special Requirements
The Philadelphia Country Club has begun a 2 phase restoration/construction project on the original 18 holes that started in May of 2023. Construction includes a complete irrigation and pump house renovation, Better Billy install on all the bunkers and a complete rebuild and re-grassing of the greens. Assistants will be involved in all aspects of construction which is set to start again in May of 2024. This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to gain valuable grow-in experience.
