Irrigation Technician

Full-time

Dallas Country Club, founded in 1896, is seeking an Irrigation Technician, to join our team effective immediately.  An 18-hole private country club, DCC is the oldest private club in Texas and one of the most prestigious clubs in America (Platinum Club of America Top 150 Country Clubs). The Club is located within the community of Highland Park, Texas (4 miles north of downtown).  

We recently completed an entire irrigation renovation with Heritage Links, designed by EC Design.  A construction project with Mike Gogel Design was also completed  with LaBar Golf Construction Group: that included new bunkers, sand capping and draining the fairways, and regrass the fairways, tees, and approaches to Stadium Zoysiagrass.

We are actively searching for an experienced Irrigation Technician that takes initiative and is a proven leader with experience managing irrigation and pumping stations.  This person will work directly with Director of Agronomy, GC Superintendent, Assistants and the Horticulturist to ensure systems are in good working order on a daily basis. This is a Full-time role with some overtime hours available; weekends, and Holidays are required seasonally.

Educational Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Certified Irrigator's licensed preferred.
  • Operate irrigation heads in dry areas needing additional water.
  • Repair the irrigation system, pipes, and irrigation heads as needed.
  • Complete requests for irrigation and course parts and supplies.
  • Grade and prepare soil base, lay sod, and seed and water greens, tees, and fairways.
  • Ability to operate equipment safely and properly.
  • Operate dump trucks and other light equipment in hauling materials and removing debris.
  • Promptly report any equipment issues.
  • Ensure a safe work environment by following all safety rules and wearing appropriate safety equipment including safety helmets, ear protection, and non-skid shoes.
  • Occasionally supervise a small labor force for special projects, and perform other duties as directed by supervisor.

Experience Requirements

  • Certified Irrigation Technician preferred.
  • Previous experience as an Irrigation Technician at a golf course or landscape company preferred.
  • Experience with HDPE, 2-wire system, Toro Lynx, Toro Smart Hubs, Toro Infinity heads is preferred. 
  • Self-motivated, independent worker, detail oriented, strong work ethic, good communicator

Special Requirements

The ideal candidate will have the following competencies and qualities:

 

·         This position entails working outdoors, often in severe, inclement weather conditions.

·         Able to lift up to 80 pounds.

·         The ability to stand for long periods of time.

·         Able to perform tasks while bending, twisting, kneeling, walking.

·         Must have reliable transportation.

·         Must clear a pre-employment drug screen and background.

·         Must provide employment eligibility.

·         Ability to work Monday through Saturday.
