Assistant Superintendent

Saucon Valley Country Club is seeking a dedicated Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to join our dynamic and professional Agronomic Leadership Team. The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent will play a critical role in assisting the Golf Course Superintendent in maintaining and enhancing the overall condition of the Grace Course. Under the Golf Course Superintendent's direction, the Assistant Superintendent trains and supervises the golf course personnel including daily scheduling, budget management, and planning short and long-range golf course improvements.     

Saucon Valley Country Club located in Bethlehem, Pa, is a full-service private club spanning 850 acres, offering sixty holes of golf with three championship courses and a six-hole short course. Founded in 1920, located an hour north of Philadelphia in the Lehigh Valley, Saucon Valley Country Club is a Top Platinum Club of America, has hosted 8 USGA events, and is the first club to host 3 U.S. Senior Open Championships (1992, 2000, & 2022). The Club has been selected to host 5 more additional USGA Championships beginning with the 2026 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship.

The club is in the initial phase of a $15,000,000 irrigation project, which includes a new primary water source and Watertronics Pump Station. The second phase includes the installation of a Rainbird two wire wall to wall irrigation system designed by Paul Roche. We are looking for a turf professional to be among the 32 successful superintendents and industry leaders that have cultivated and advanced their careers through our professional development program initiated 19 years ago.

Educational Requirements

Graduate of an accredited college or turfgrass program.

Experience Requirements

Minimum of 3 years golf course experience.

The ideal candidate is dedicated to achieving a working knowledge of championship golf course conditioning, professional development, and eager to progress in your career. Eager to learn and perform a lead role in the golf course’s daily preparation for members and guests, including proper maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, and rough, emphasizing environmental stewardship.

·          Responsible for training staff in all areas of course maintenance, including proper care and storage of all equipment.

·         Forward-thinker that is detail-oriented and possesses a keen eye to promote a positive working environment.

·         Assist in an intricate water management plan including hand watering, irrigation program set-up, and adjusting run times as needed.

·         Assist is discussions with the USGA, architect, and irrigation consultant during the planning stages for the upcoming championships and complete irrigation and pumping system replacement.
