Senior Assistant Superintendent
The Edison Club is a 27-hole private country club, located between Albany and Saratoga Springs. Nestled on the rolling hills above the bluffs of the Mohawk River. The historic club was founded in 1904 with golf course construction in 1926 by legendary Golf Course Architect, Devereux Emmet. The greens, tees and fairways consist of poa/creeping bentgrass. In addition to the golf course the club has an active racquets and aquatics program available to members and guests.
This is an opportunity that will provide substantial learning experiences and my goal is to prepare you for the next step in the profession. Salary is negotiable.
The Senior Assistant works closely with the Golf Course Superintendent to facilitate the operation to present the golf course as it was intended to be played with the ground game in mind and in a tournament ready manner.
He/she will manage, delegate, train, direct and support the team to maintain the golf course at the highest quality possible at all times.
Chemical and fertilizer applications and accurate record keeping.
Irrigation maintenance, troubleshooting and programming.
Assist the Golf Course Superintendent with labor tracking and labor efficiency.
Aid in the hiring process and staff development mentorship.
Educational Requirements
Candidates ideally have a 2-4 year degree or certificate in turfgrass management, horticulture or similar but will consider those with years of experience in golf course maintenance with the hopes of pursuing a degree/certificate in the above.
Experience Requirements
The qualified candidates will have 2-3 years of golf course experience including management of staff and chemical and fertilizer applications. More importantly they must carry themselves in a professional and positive manner at all times and demonstrate a sense of pride and embrace a team-oriented culture.
Special Requirements
Must have a New York Pesticide license or the ability to obtain one immediately.
