Assistant Superintendent
The Reserve at Moonlight Basin in Big Sky, MT is now accepting applications for an Assistant Superintendent. This is a full-time year-round position with excellent benefits in one of Montana's most scenic locations.
The Reserve is an 18 hole private golf course located at 7000 feet of elevation in Big Sky, MT. Moonlight Basin was rated #2 best new private course by Golf Digest in 2016. Moonlight currently sits at the #2 course in the state and has recently been added to Golf Digest's second 100 greatest in the country.
JOB OVERVIEW:
The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent will assist and support the Golf Course Superintendent and 1st Assistant Golf Course Superintendent by implementing the maintenance, operation, and management practices associated with the RESERVE 18 holes, practice range, short game area, clubhouse grounds, and native areas that fall inside the golf envelope. This role will report directly to the 1st Assistant Superintendent.

Educational Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
Essential:
1. Previous experience working on a golf course maintenance crew in a supervisory role.
2. Working knowledge of tools, methods, and materials used in maintaining a golf course with high standards of playability.
3. Degree in golf course maintenance or related field.
Desirable:
1. Current pesticide license, or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
2. Experience working on a grounds crew of twenty or more.
3. Experience operating Toro Lynx software and scheduling daily irrigation.

SKILLS:
Essential:
1. Knowledge of tools, methods, and materials used in golf course construction and maintenance work.
2. Ability to operate heavy equipment and light motorized equipment.
3. Ability to follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with the rest of the golf maintenance team.
4. Ability to schedule & coordinate daily work assignments for the grounds crew.
5. Proven leadership capabilities.
6. Eager to learn and strives to be successful in the position.
7. Ability to lift at least 50 pounds on a regular basis.
8. Ability to work outdoors for long periods of time, sometimes in inclement weather.
9. Ability to work as a team with other members of senior management to accomplish seasonal maintenance practices and daily course conditioning goals.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Oversees the completion of work assignments by crew members and assists with field decisions regarding job procedures, work standards and machinery use.
2. Enforces safe working conditions with all job assignments and is responsible for instructing staff on proper equipment use and work methods.
3. Oversees special projects and labor crews.
4. Reports any issues related to the condition of the golf course to the 1st assistant superintendent and schedules and coordinates crew members to address them.
5. Maintains crew integrity and reports to work with a positive and professional attitude.
6. Participates in daily course setup of the golf course including but not limited to cutting cups, tee service, mowing, bunkers, sod / seed projects, chemical & fertilizer application, and irrigation repair.
SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Maintains effective communication and cooperation with all other departments.
2. Maintains positive interactions with club members and guests, providing a high level of customer service.
3. Performs all duties as assigned by the 1st assistant superintendent or other members of the senior management team, as deemed appropriate.
