Assistant Superintendent

Full-time

The Assistant Superintendent position will work alongside the Golf Course Superintendent and will report directly to the Director of Agronomy. The role will consist of all facets of the maintenance and care of the 18-hole golf course, short course, driving range, and practice facilities.   Duties will include but not limited to, staff scheduling, daily course set-up, tournament set-up, irrigation programming, the application of fertilizers and pesticides, management of SubAir Systems and TurfBreeze fans, staff training, and team building.

Educational Requirements

2 – 4 year degree, preferably in Agronomy/Horticulture field.

Experience Requirements

·         Minimum 6-12 months golf course experience with knowledge of bentgrass putting surfaces.

·         Texas pesticide applicators license or the ability to obtain a license within the first 6 months of employment.

·         A valid driver's license.

·         Advanced knowledge and understanding of cultural practices, fertilizer and chemical application and calibration.

·         Experience scheduling and modifying Toro irrigation programs.

·         Working knowledge of SubAir systems and TurfBreeze fans.

·         Ability to work well with others and manage staff with the goal of providing the best playing conditions for our members and guests.

·         Fulfill the goals of the department while supporting the Golf Course Superintendent and Director of Agronomy.

·         Strong communication and leadership skills.

·         Be a team player – learn and build relationships.

·         Daily interactions with the golf staff, other departments, membership, and guest.

·         A positive attitude and the ability to represent Northwood Club in a professional manner at all times.
