Emerald Lake Golf Club is daily fee golf club located in Matthews, NC just outside of downtown Charlotte. With rolling fairways and scenic views, the golf course features bent grass greens with 419 bermudagrass tees, fairways, and rough. We are currently seeking an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to join our team!

The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent will work alongside and report directly to the Golf Course Superintendent. The Assistant Superintendent plays a critical role in managing cool-season putting surfaces in a warm-season environment while maintaining top-level daily course conditioning. He or She will oversee, direct, and participate in daily maintenance of the golf course tees, greens, fairways, rough, bunkers, and cart paths. This individual will also supervise the maintenance and repair of motorized and other mechanical equipment; and does related work as required.

Job Duties:

  • Manage, train, and direct a staff of 15-20+
  • Cool season putting surface management 
  • Tournament golf set up
  • Oversee staff and H2B workers throughout workday 
  • Record keeping, logging, and weather monitoring
  • Irrigation repair and install
  • Work every 3rd weekend or as needed for greens management, tournaments, and events

Educational Requirements

2-4 Year Turf Certificate/Degree is preferred, but candidates with strong experience will be considered.

Experience Requirements

Candidate must have good communication skills and a strong work ethic. Must be a team player and looking to grow in the turf industry.

Special Requirements

  • Cool-Season putting green experience in the transition zone is a plus

  • Spanish speaking ability is a plus

  • Must be able to obtain NC Pesticide License within 90 days
