Assistant Superintendent
BrightView is seeking an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to join our team. The Assistant reports directly to the Golf Course Superintendent and assumes superintendent responsibilities in their absence. This role supports the overall maintenance, operation, and management of the golf course, serving as a liaison between BrightView, course representatives, and the golf shop. The Assistant Superintendent must be able to respond quickly to any situation and maintain strong communication with employees and leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the superintendent in planning, organizing, and directing course maintenance.
- Supervise the operation, maintenance, and repair of all golf course equipment.
- Procure and manage supplies and materials for maintenance activities.
- Manage maintenance staff, including input on hiring, training, discipline, and separation.
- Protect company interests through awareness and compliance with all applicable regulations, course policies, and company standards.
- Complete administrative duties in a timely manner.
- Administer BrightView’s Safety Program and BV360 Management Program.
- Represent BrightView in a positive and professional manner through attitude, appearance, and public relations.
- Meet or exceed customer expectations, both internal and external.
Educational Requirements
- Degree or advanced knowledge in Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant/Soil Science preferred.
Experience Requirements
- Experience in golf course management and turf culture preferred.
Special Requirements
- Must obtain and maintain state pesticide applicator license within 6 months of hire.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Preferred skills and knowledge:
- Construction, establishment, and maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkers.
- Administrative and executive aptitude (oral/written communication, computer proficiency).
- Fertilizers and soil conditioners.
- Irrigation systems, pumps, wells, drainage, and watering practices.
- Preparing the course for play in accordance with the rules of golf.
- Ability to evaluate the course from the player’s perspective.
