Irrigation Technician Job Description

THE TWINEAGLES CLUB, INC.

SALARY: TO CONSUMERATE WITH EXPERIENCE

FLSA: HOURLY/ NON-EXEMPT

REPORTS TO: Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Irrigation Technician under the direction of the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent, assists in monitoring the water usage tracking plan and maintains irrigation systems. Supports and assists in the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program by demonstrating integrated plant and irrigation management.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for maintenance of Irrigation systems (i.e. testing heads, testing irrigation boxes, exercising valves, and radio communication).
  • Assists in the care and maintenance of the turf, ornamental plants, shrubs, and trees on the facility grounds.
  • Operates smaller equipment and hand tools as directed by supervisor.
  • Works efficiently in getting course up to tournament ready conditions before membership play on a daily basis according to golf course play standards.
  • Maintains good, reliable attendance, and is punctual to work every day.
  • Exhibits attention to detail by picking up trash and weeds throughout the facility.
  • Returns equipment to the designated location at the maintenance facility clean, greased, and fueled.
  • Safely operates all equipment.
  • Reports any equipment malfunctions to the Equipment Manager and/or Supervisor.
  • Follows all company and departmental policies and procedures in a strict fashion.
  • Furthers continued development by participating in appropriate seminars and conferences as approved by the Director of Agronomy.
  • Will coordinate internally with the Spray Technician, Equipment Technicians, Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Equipment Manager, and staff (when appropriate).
  • Exhibits proactive leadership in the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program as it applies to this department’s environmental responsibility.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Position requires the individual to maintain flexible availability, will work weekends and holidays. May be required to return to the job site at odd hours under emergency situations.

· Must have viable means of transportation to work.

· Consistently follows safety guidelines and procedures.

· Performs other duties as directed by Supervisor.

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE:

· High school diploma or GED equivalent, preferred but not required.

· Working knowledge of tools, methods, and materials used in golf course irrigation repair and grounds, preferred.

· One (1) year minimum of golf course club experience preferred.

· Ability to read, write and comprehend complex correspondence, memos, and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to employees.

· Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

· Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of this position.

· Will work outdoors and may be exposed to wet and/or hot conditions.

· Must have a basic knowledge of golf course irrigation operations.

· Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time.

· Moderate noise environment.

· Move or lift objects up to 60 pounds.

· Must be able to climb, crawl, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, push or pull.

· Communication, to include: reading, hearing, and talking with fellow employees.
