Assistant Superintendent
The Club at Cordillera is adding an Assistant Superintendent to the leadership team. The Club is a 54-hole facility in the Central Rockies of Colorado. We have an intense 7-month golf season where every day is either repairing from winter, prepping for a tournament, or preparing for winter. Our 5-month non-golf season consists of snow removal, agronomy planning, projects, continuing education, building maintenance, and organizing.
● In the absence of the course superintendent, acts in that capacity.
● Repairs and directs the repairs to broken water lines, heads, and valves.
● Ensures proper finish of sodding, drainage work, and various projects associated with course maintenance.
● Communicates with course superintendent, other key agronomy staff, and golf staff to discuss conditions of golf courses, maintenance plans and scheduled events.
● Ensures that maintenance equipment is properly maintained and safely operated.
● Keep records of annual maintenance activities and costs.
● Follows sound purchasing procedures utilizing preferred vendors, when possible.
● Reconciles and provides timely coding of all invoices, payroll and other required documents.
● Ensures all company policies and procedures are followed including compliance with government regulations.
● Maintains a working knowledge of agronomy programs and products applied that are associated with the management of the specific water, soil, and turf types of the course.
● Obtains the proper training and/or licenses needed to perform job tasks safely and within city, state, and federal regulations. Addresses directly all real or perceived environmental concerns.
● Properly mixes, calibrates, and applies chemical/fertilizers used on the course.
● Manages department members that may include, but is not limited to: 2nd Assistant, AIT, Environmental Technician, Equipment Operator, Foreman, Greenskeeper, and Irrigation Technician.
● Ensures that effective orientation and training are given to each associate.
● Safely operates the use of dump trucks, snow removal equipment, snowcat, and snowmobiles to remove, monitor, maintain, groom, and pack the facility during winter operations.
● Aids the course lead in the proper winterization of the golf course including fencing, tarping, end-of-season agronomy practices, irrigation winterization, and chemical applications.
● Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots components such as pressure relief and reduction valves, pumps, filtration equipment, pump motors/drives, and communication systems associated with the water delivery for the property.
● Measures, estimates, calculates, and records diversions of water from ditches and other delivery systems for use in computing reports as required by law.
● Patrols irrigation ditches by foot, motor vehicle, and ATV to detect leaks and weak areas, removes debris and makes repairs to ditch banks, structures, gates, ditch access roads, and paths.
● Regular and reliable attendance.
● Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
Physical Demands: Regularly stands, walks and sits. Regularly uses hands, reaches with arms and hands, talks or hears. Occasionally climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, crawls, tastes or smells. Regularly lifts up to 50 pounds. Occasionally lifts up to 100 pounds.
Environment/Noise: Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts, fumes and/or airborne particles. Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions. Noise level is moderate.
Certificates/Licenses: Valid Driver’s License, Pesticide Application License
Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences: Ability to read and speak English is required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associates are required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English). Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Educational Requirements
2 Year turf degree or equivalent experience.
Experience Requirements
2 years on a golf course with some spraying and/or irrigation experience.
