We’re looking for a motivated Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to help lead our maintenance team and keep the course in top shape for members and guests year-round.

 

 

Position Overview

 

 

The Assistant Superintendent works directly with the Golf Course Superintendent to oversee daily course maintenance and crew management. This role is hands-on and leadership-driven—ideal for someone eager to grow their turf management career while ensuring the course always looks its best.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

 

• Course Maintenance Support: Assist with turfgrass care programs including mowing, aeration, fertilization, pest management, irrigation, and overseeding.
• Crew Leadership: Supervise, train, and motivate grounds staff; help assign daily tasks and ensure quality work.
• Irrigation Oversight: Help monitor and maintain the irrigation system, troubleshoot issues, and ensure efficient water use.
• Equipment Coordination: Work with Superintendent and mechanics on equipment care, scheduling, and reporting needs.
• Daily Course Prep: Ensure greens, tees, bunkers, and fairways are in proper condition for play each day.
• Recordkeeping & Compliance: Assist in maintaining chemical/fertilizer logs, safety training, and compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Leadership Development: Step in as acting Superintendent when needed and continue developing leadership and technical skills.

 

 

 

Qualifications

 

 

• Degree or certificate in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or related field (preferred).
• 1–3 years of golf course maintenance experience; prior supervisory experience is a plus.
• Working knowledge of turfgrass science, irrigation systems, and golf course equipment.
• NC pesticide applicator license (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
• Strong leadership, teamwork, and communication skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and early mornings.
