Position Overview
The Golf Course Maintenance Laborer/Equipment Operator is responsible for performing routine manual labor and operating specialized equipment to maintain the golf course grounds, ensuring a high-quality playing experience. This role involves landscaping, turf care, and general upkeep tasks under the direction of the Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents.
Key Responsibilities
- Turf Maintenance: Mow fairways, greens, tees, and roughs using hand, push, and riding mowers. Perform edging, raking, and bunker maintenance to ensure optimal course conditions.
- Equipment Operation: Safely operate golf course maintenance equipment, including tractors, aerators, top dressers, and utility vehicles, adhering to safety protocols.
- Irrigation Maintenance: Assist in the repair and maintenance of irrigation systems, including sprinklers and drainage systems, to ensure proper water distribution.
- Course Setup: Set up tee markers, cups, and flags, and perform daily course inspections to ensure playability and aesthetic standards.
- General Upkeep: Remove debris, clean equipment, and maintain shop and storage areas. Assist with snow removal or other seasonal tasks as needed.
- Safety Compliance: Follow all safety guidelines, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe operation of machinery.
Qualifications
- Experience: Previous experience in landscaping or golf course maintenance strongly preferred but not required. On-the-job training provided.
- Equipment Skills: Ability to operate or learn to operate mowers, tractors, and other maintenance equipment.
- Work Ethic: Strong attention to detail, reliability, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Availability: Weekdays and Weekends, 40 Hour Work Week
- Licenses/Certifications: Valid driver’s license preferred. Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
- This position does require a pre-employment urinalysis, though prescribed medication will not disqualify a candidate from employment.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
Working Conditions
- Work is primarily outdoors, with exposure to sun, rain, heat, cold, and potentially hazardous equipment or chemicals.
- Requires physical stamina for repetitive tasks, bending, kneeling, and lifting.
- Typical schedule includes early morning shifts and may vary based on weather and course events.
- This is a year round position.

- Competitive hourly wage based on experience.
