Assistant Superintendent
Located in the heart of Palm Beach County, Florida, The Club at Quail Ridge is a prestigious, award- winning, private residential country club community spanning over 600 acres. The community features 947 residences, two championship golf courses, 16 Har-Tru® tennis courts, four pickleball courts, a spa and fitness center, multiple pools, miles of scenic walking trails, and a state-of-the-art, 60,000 square-foot clubhouse. We are currently seeking a Golf Course Assistant Superintendent to help oversee daily maintenance operations on one of our two 18-hole championship courses and practice facilities. This hands-on leadership role includes supervising a large crew and working with the Superintendent and Director of Agronomy to uphold the club’s mission and goals established by the Board of governors.
The club has recently completed a total reimagination and reconstruction of the North Course under the supervision of Jason Straka and Dana Fry of Fry/Straka golf architecture design. The new North Course was recently awarded 2nd Place in the Private Club category within the Golf Inc. Magazine’s ‘2025 Renovation of the Year Award’. The club also plans on spending significant funds on improving the South Course, which was most recently renovated in 2019 by golf course architect Bobby Weed. Both courses have a state-of-the-art irrigation system, and all infrastructure is in great condition.
Agronomy Team Highlights:
· Annual Maintenance Budget: $4.9 million

Essential Responsibilities:
· Lead the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program, including scheduling and supervising all chemical and fertilizer applications
· Maintain accurate records and inventory of pesticides, fertilizers, and application equipment
· Ensure compliance with safety protocols and proper equipment use for all spray and spreader operations
· Supervise and participate in agronomic practices including mowing, bunker maintenance, and cultural procedures
· Coordinate with the Equipment Manager on equipment maintenance and repair
· Oversee construction and renovation work on greens, tees, fairways, bunkers, and related areas
· Monitor the safe and effective operation of all application equipment
· Assist with receiving, inspecting, and storing all agronomic products
· Create and manage daily staff schedules
· Provide coaching, conflict resolution, and disciplinary guidance as needed
· Conduct safety and team meetings regularly
· Assist in implementing departmental policies and procedures
· Ensure quality standards are met, including final daily course evaluations
· Weekend duty required on a rotational basis (approximately every third weekend)
· Perform additional tasks as assigned by management
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· Direct oversight of 5–6 Spray Technicians
· Supervision of 15–20 weekend Golf Course Maintenance staff

Educational Requirements
Education and Experience Requirements:
· High school diploma or equivalent required
· Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree (or certificate) in Turfgrass Management or a related field
· Minimum of 2–4 years of golf course experience, including internships
· Florida Pesticide Applicator License (or ability to obtain)
· Previous supervisory experience required
· Valid driver’s license
Experience Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Thorough understanding of turfgrass science, golf course operations, and landscape maintenance
· Proficiency in operating and maintaining turf equipment and IPM tools
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Strong organizational abilities with attention to detail and time management
· Ability to lead by example and work independently when needed
· Fluency in English with the ability to read, write, and understand safety signs and instructions
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic computer skills
· Ability to collaborate effectively with staff, management, and club members
Special Requirements
Working Conditions:
· Must maintain consistent and reliable attendance
· Required to work at least 40 hours per week; flexibility to work weekends and holidays as needed
· Duties require frequent walking, standing, and physical activity in various weather conditions
· Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds and perform physical tasks including kneeling, bending, crouching, and reaching
· Must follow proper lifting and safety procedures
