Assistant Superintendent

Full-time

To assist with the management of maintenance on the golf course, practice areas, and clubhouse facilities to maintain the highest standards of excellence for play and aesthetic value.

Evaluate and determine priorities of course maintenance through course inspection and Director of Maintenance requests.

Organize, direct and delegate daily work schedules as well as projected work.

Establish training programs to effectively produce a quality product while still maintaining good harmonious working relationships.

Update Director of Maintenance daily on all aspects of the maintenance department projects, personnel issues, equipment problems and other concerns requiring attention.

Supervise / apply fertilizer and pesticide applications.

Maintain security and cleanliness of golf course property and buildings. (Including lightning protection device, ESID sirens)

Assist the Director of Maintenance in preparing the operational budget and in analyzing the expense forecast to ensure that expenditures are maintained within budgetary guidelines.

Communicate and coordinate activities with golf operations staff and perform site staff meetings.

Demonstrate understanding of cultural practices, plant nutrition, plant pathology, entomology, weed control, pesticide laws and must be licensed for the application of pesticide chemicals. Understand irrigation repair and design.

 

Associate's degree (A.A.) in Turfgrass Management/ golf course management or 4-year degree in Agronomy or a related field is preferred: three years related experience and / or certificate in turfgrass management or: equivalent combination of education and experience.

Educational Requirements

Bachelor's, Associate or certificate in Agronomy / Turfgrass Management or a related field
