Somerset Hills Country Club is a private, 18-hole facility located in Bernardsville, NJ. Designed by A.W. Tillinghast in 1918, the course consistently ranks among the Top 100 Courses in the U.S. and is renowned for its classic design and pristine playing conditions. Somerset Hills offers interns a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience at one of the most respected clubs in the country.
Position Overview:
We are seeking hard-working and motivated Summer Interns to join our Grounds Maintenance Team. Interns will work alongside experienced turf professionals in all aspects of high-end golf course maintenance, with a focus on learning, hands-on experience, and professional development.
Internship Responsibilities:
- Daily course setup (mowing, rolling, bunker maintenance, etc.)
- Operation of mowers, utility vehicles, and small equipment
- Irrigation system maintenance and hand-watering
- Fertilizer and pesticide applications
- Involvement in cultural practices: aerification, topdressing, verticutting
- Exposure to turfgrass management strategies and course improvement projects
Educational Requirements
Requirements:
- Enrolled in or recently graduated from a Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or related program
- Strong work ethic and desire to learn
- Willingness to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Prior golf course experience is a plus, but not required
