The Wanamaker is one of three championship golf courses at PGA Golf Club and recently underwent a major renovation including a greens conversion to Tif3D, Trinity Collars, and Bunker Solutions.

We are currently hiring an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent who will be responsible for the development and management of the golf course and/or grounds by planning, organizing, and directing the construction of putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkers.

Represent the PGA of America in the utmost professional manner.

Assistant Golf Course Superintendent – Responsibilities

Document and file daily records for each team member’s assignments.

Communicate with golf shop in the morning on maintenance procedures, (topdressing, cart paths only, etc.).

Communicate with Applications Specialist in regards to applications and scheduling on the golf course.

Plan applications of fertilizer on the course.

Check course staff for proper cleaning and greasing of equipment in the morning/afternoon. Make sure all assigned small equipment is returned to the small equipment room and signed back in.

Tour the course at least once daily with attention to greens, tees, fairways and rough conditions as a minimum.  Note all areas where issues are seen and plan for the next day events.

Log rainfall and daily weather conditions and submit to the Administrative Assistant.

Check random areas on the course with soil probe for moisture excess or dryness.  Root depth and soil conditions should be noted. Note dew pattern as an indicator of moisture levels.

Work with the mechanic daily on equipment use and requirements.  Assure that all equipment is properly set up and operating as needed in the field.

Discuss daily schedules, programs and concerns with the Golf Course Superintendent with attention to efficient management and quality control in mind.

Obtain daily labor reports from the Administrative Assistant for the purpose of managing labor budgets.

Assure that all issues and concerns are brought to the Golf Course Superintendent as quickly as possible in order to lessen potential negative impact.

Training of staff along with staff safety is the number one priority.

Conduct monthly safety meetings.

Regular staff evaluations and documentation of performance level.

Assure that environmental, compliance, and maintenance facility are monitored and maintained.

Maintain pesticide license and continual education in the field of concern or related.

Educational Requirements

Education and/or Experience

Two- or four-year certificate from a college or technical school; or two or more years in a related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

$27 to $31 per hour
