Chatham Hills is seeking a Turf Grass Intern to round out our key staff for the 2026 season. We are looking to add an Intern who is enthusiastic about turf, brings high-level attention to detail, is willing to learn, wants to further their career in the turf grass industry, wants to deliver a high-quality golf course maintenance product and services and wants to be involved in the preparation of the 2026 LIV Individual Championship.

Chatham Hills, along with the Golf Course Superintendent, has a great reputation for developing and promoting (over 20 Assistants into Superintendent positions) their Turf Grass Professionals into industry positions and engaging them in numerous professional development opportunities.

The Turf Grass Intern reports to the Golf Course Superintendent, Jeff VerCautren, and the other key Turf Grass professional staff. Under the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents, the Turf Grass Intern is in a learning capacity on how to direct and participate in the maintenance of all golf course areas and the maintenance and repair of motorized and other mechanical equipment; and does related work as required. The Turf Grass Intern may serve in the Assistant Superintendent’s capacity if the situation arises. 

The Turf Grass Intern will be responsible for the following:

-Responsible for all facets of golf course maintenance on 9 golf holes with another Turf Grass Professional.

-After learning the operation of tasks and equipment operation the Intern will help instruct and train operators on the proper way to perform and care for equipment and tasks.

-Will be involved with all pesticide applications and calibration of pesticide application equipment.

-Will learn all facets of tournament preparation throughout the season.

-Will be responsible with an Assistant Superintendent for course moisture management on specific 9 holes and areas of the property to give firm and fast playing conditions.

-Assists in personnel management and evaluation, employee safety, and personnel discipline.

-Involvement in implementing Agronomy Standards for the season.

-Will be given 1 week to shadow the Chatham Hills Equipment Manager.

-We would like the Turfgrass Professional to be interested in the golf game. To play Chatham Hills at least once a month.

Educational Requirements

Must be enrolled in a Turf Grass education program.

Experience Requirements

Must have two years experience in some form of turfgrass management. 

Job Benefits

$20 to $21 based on experience.

200 to 500 hours OT. 

Uniform allowance.

Golfing privileges.

Single-family housing is available.
