Assistant Superintendent

The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent provides assistance in the creation and maintenance of the physical grounds and buildings at the Pine Ridge Golf Course to ensure a quality golf experience. This role is tasked with supporting the overall maintenance, operation, and facilities management of the course. The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent supervises the use, maintenance, and repair of the motorized and mechanical equipment used on the golf course.

Educational Requirements

Associate Degree or certificate in golf course management or related field

Experience Requirements

Demonstrated working knowledge and experience of the:

o Construction and maintenance of golf course tees, fairways, greens, and related areas

o Seeding and maintenance of types of turf used on golf courses o Planting, cultivating, pruning and caring for plants, shrubs and trees

o Characteristics and proper use of various fertilizers and soil conditions of herbicides and pest control methods and materials

o Drainage control methods and automatic irrigation systems

o Watering and automatic irrigation systems, including pumps, automatic valves and controls.

• Experience successfully managing a staff and directing projects

• A valid Class D Maryland driver's license

Work Environment

This job operates in a recreational environment including regularly working outside in the heat or cold. This role routinely uses equipment and machinery such as tractors, mowers, blowers, string trimmers, chain saws, edgers, and hand tools.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand for long periods of time; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms, bend, and lift items weighing more than 50 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

Regular full-time position with extended work hours during the golf season. This role is expected to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
