Seasonal Intern
Students will experience a monthly classroom setting to review the golf club’s management programs. Students will meet with a monthly guest speaker to cover soil test, spend time with the General Manager on budget and meet with a pump station contractor to understand the fundamentals of a pump station. Weekly goals will be set with the Superintendent/Agronomist and an outline will be set for weekly achievements during the summer in turf management practices. Also, students will have the opportunity to host a televised event, the LPGA Portland Classic.
Educational Requirements
Must be enrolled in a turf management program.
Experience Requirements
Prefer prior turf experience. Good attitude, willing to learn, hard worker/motivated about the green industry.
Special Requirements
Interns will set goals for the program and will cover cultural practices, variance reports/forecasting, weed management, and pesticide applications. No special requirements are needed for this internship program.
