Course Description:

Somerset Hills Country Club is a prestigious, private club ranked in the top 100. It’s an 18-hole facility located in Bernardsville, NJ, Designed by A.W. Tillinghast in 1918. Renowned for its classic design and pristine conditions, Somerset Hills is a nationally recognized club with a rich history. Somerset Hills offers interns an opportunity to gain experience not offered by the vast majority of clubs in the top 100 while also allowing for a solid work-life balance.  

Position Overview:

We are seeking an Intern, or AIT, to join the Greens Department for the 2026 season. Prospects are not required, or expected, to have any experience. While living on the course, interns will learn the standards associated with working at a high end club in a fast paced environment. A focus on education gives interns an opportunity to grow significantly in both turfgrass management and network building. This is a preparatory role designed to further careers and help people understand the “why” behind decisions.

Responsibilities:

• Foliar Greens Spray, Fairway Sprays, Tee Sprays

• Hand Watering (Mentorship by Superintendent)

• Leadership Roles (Quality Control, Training, Lead Operations)

• Water Management   

• Fertilizer applications

• Operation of Mowers, Utility Vehicles, and Small Equipment

• Irrigation Setup and Repair 

• Course Setup

• Cultural Practices (Aerification, Topdressing, Verticutting)

• Learn Industry Leading Turfgrass Management Strategies 

• Project Experience
