Assistant Superintendent

Position Overview
As Assistant Superintendent, you will play a key role in daily course preparation, staff leadership, irrigation management, and agronomic decision-making. This position involves hands-on work as the culture in our organization is about leading by example and working together to accomplish our goals on a daily-basis . You’ll collaborate closely with the Superintendent to uphold the standards that define Karsten's reputation for excellence and build relationships with your team that will last forever.

Knowledge, Responsibilities & Aptitude

Understanding of fertilizers, insecticides, fungicides, herbicides, and soil amendments

Ability to calibrate sprayers/spreaders and perform turf-related math with confidence

Working knowledge of C3 and C4 turf physiology

Provide agronomic recommendations and contribute solutions to elevate playing conditions

Lead staff scheduling, task execution, training, safety, and accountability

Maintain detailed records of chemical applications, moisture management, cultural practices, and inspections

Assist with interviewing, hiring, and supervision of the Agronomy team

Help manage irrigation scheduling and hand-watering of surfaces

Participate in cultural practices including aerification, topdressing, mowing, and course setup

Support course preparation for high-level events and tournaments

Commit to professional growth through organizations, seminars, volunteer opportunities, and continuing education

Uphold environmental and safety standards at all times

Educational Requirements
Pursuing a Turfgrass Management degree or certificate.
Has a strong desire to become a Golf Course Superintendent.
Experience Requirements
Two-Three years plus experience in agronomic practices, golf course maintenance, and progressive leadership responsibilities.
Valid Driver’s license.
Ability to obtain an Oklahoma Pesticide License within 90 days of hire.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
