Job Responsibilities

Learn and perform high-quality golf course maintenance through hands-on experience.

Follow daily assignments with attention to detail and pride in work.

Ask questions and actively seek to understand the purpose behind each task.

Learn to safely and effectively operate a variety of equipment, including:

Walk and riding mowers
-
Utility carts
-
Specialty tools
-
Sprayers
-
Aerifiers
-

Assist the management team with key agronomic practices:
-
Spraying
-
Topdressing
-
Aerification
-
Fertilizer Applications
-
Sod work
-
Irrigation repairs
-
Moisture management
-
-
Learn how to hand-water playing surfaces and assist with utilizing the irrigation system to ensure consistent playing conditions.

Build agronomic knowledge through exposure to:
-
Data collection
-
Growth patterns
-
Stresses from mechanical wear
-
Disease identification
-
Weather impacting agronomic decisions
-

Participate in daily communication with your peers and managers about the conditions of the grounds.
-
Lead small groups on projects or assignments with passion and pride.
-
Show initiative, curiosity, and desire for professional growth by attending daily meetings, turf talks, and other forms of education.

Maintain a positive attitude and rapport with the entire staff and represent the club in a professional manner at all times.

Contribute to upholding our standards by going above and beyond.

Keep a journal or running document with pictures and notes from your experience.

Participate in final evaluations at the end of the season.

Perform all other duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements
Presently be enrolled in, or a recent graduate of any program in Agronomy, Turfgrass or related Business.
Experience Requirements
1-2 years of golf course maintenance experience preferred.
Special Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Current State of Wisconsin Pesticide Applicator License or actively pursuing one.
- Ability to physically lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as necessary.
- Capable of working in a fast pace environment.
- Willing to adapt, follow directions and learn on the fly.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Understanding environmental demands, including heat, cold, sun and rain, as well as exposure to chemicals and the nature of working outdoors.
