Golf Course Maintenance Intern – Summer 2026

The Preserve Golf Club is seeking a motivated and hardworking individual for its Summer 2026 Golf Course Maintenance Internship. This position is designed for candidates pursuing a career in golf course and turfgrass management who are eager to gain hands-on experience at a premier private club.

The intern will work closely with the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents, gaining exposure to all aspects of high-end golf course maintenance with an emphasis on mentorship, professional development, and long-term career growth.


Internship Overview

The intern will be fully immersed in daily golf course operations and special projects, including exposure to advanced water management systems, warm and cool season turf management, and emerging technologies. Responsibilities and learning opportunities will be tailored to the intern’s experience, interests, and career goals.

This internship is ideal for individuals aspiring to future Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent roles. Successful interns will be strongly considered for future employment opportunities.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily course setup and maintenance to championship standards

  • Monitor and manage green moisture using TDR soil sensors

  • Assist with calibration and application of fertilizers and plant protectants

  • Troubleshoot and repair irrigation systems

  • Participate in planning and executing course projects

  • Maintain accurate records of chemical applications, clipping volumes, and maintenance logs

  • Lead crew assignments 

  • Operate and maintain golf course equipment

  • Perform physical work outdoors, including standing 8–10 hours per day and lifting up to 50 lbs


Ideal Candidate

  • Strong interest in turfgrass and golf course management

  • Highly motivated with a strong work ethic and attention to detail

  • Positive attitude and ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • Willingness to learn, take initiative, and adapt in a fast-paced setting

  • Long-term career interest in the turfgrass industry


Education Requirements

  • Enrolled in or recently graduated from an accredited Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Plant Sciences, or related program (Associate’s or Bachelor’s)

  • Previous golf course experience preferred but not required
