Assistant Superintendent
Position: Rock Harbor Golf Course in Winchester, Virginia is seeking an Assistant Superintendent. Rock Harbor is a 36 hole facility with short and long practice ranges, putting green, and greens nursery. Located in the heart of the beautiful and historic Shenandoah Valley, Rock Harbor golf club has been providing unique view-filled golf holes since 2003. 10 acres of greens, 8 acres of tees, 40 acres of fairways, and 100+ acres of rough cover the 243-acre facility. Rock Harbor’s goal is to be the best golf experience in the area.
Duties: The Assistant Superintendent will be expected to contribute to planning, executing projects, budgeting, implementing cultural practices, moisture management, pesticide applications, and managing staff. With the Assistant Superintendent's education and on-the-job training, he/she should be able to take complete responsibility of the golf course maintenance operation in the absence of the Golf Course Superintendent. Work with the Superintendent to communicate daily, weekly, & monthly tasks. Coordinate, supervise & follow-up on all crew assignments. Must be a team player. Work well under pressure while balancing multiple priorities and assignments. Irrigation maintenance & operation experience. Ability to calibrate all types of spreaders & sprayers. Have good written & verbal skills.

Educational Requirements
2-4 year degree or certificate in turf or related field preferred but not required
Experience Requirements
At least 2 years golf course maintenance experience to include: daily setup, various turf equipment operation, pesticide/fertilizer application and calibration, irrigation setup and repair, and turf disease identification. Applicant must possess a current Virginia pesticide applicator’s license/ registered technician certificate or be able to obtain one immediately.
