Assistant Superintendent
New Jersey National Golf Club is seeking a motivated Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to join its agronomy team. This opportunity is open to recent turfgrass graduates, experienced assistants, and candidates with professional golf course maintenance backgrounds who are looking to continue developing their careers.
The successful candidate will be hands-on and actively involved in daily operations, turf management practices, and team leadership. Prior assistant superintendent experience is welcomed but not required; the club is committed to training the right candidate, with responsibilities increasing based on experience and performance.
Responsibilities include daily maintenance operations; turfgrass management practices; irrigation system operation and troubleshooting; staff leadership; course condition monitoring; equipment and safety oversight; and participation in seasonal planning and long-term agronomic projects.
Educational Requirements
Turfgrass degree, certificate, or formal training preferred. Equivalent professional golf course maintenance experience will be considered.
Experience Requirements
Demonstrated golf course maintenance experience in a professional setting. Supervisory or assistant-level experience is a plus but not required.
Special Requirements
New Jersey Pesticide Applicator License, or ability to obtain. Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required by golf course operations. Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
