Assistant Superintendent

Part-time

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Grounds Manager to support the daily maintenance and care of our golf course and surrounding grounds. This seasonal position (Spring to Fall) reports directly to the Golf Course Superintendent and plays a key role in maintaining high standards of turf health, playability, and overall course appearance.  Applicants must commit to working the entire season.

Midland Golf Club is a well-established public golf course serving the community with affordable, high-quality golf and event experiences. Known for its welcoming atmosphere and well-maintained grounds, the course offers a traditional layout designed to be enjoyable for players of all skill levels while still presenting a fair challenge. We operate with a strong focus on course conditions, customer service, and community involvement, hosting daily-fee play, leagues, tournaments, and special events throughout the season.

 Key Responsibilities

• Supervise, train, and assist grounds crew members with daily tasks

• Help execute mowing, fertilization, aeration, irrigation, and pest control

• Operate and maintain golf course maintenance equipment safely and efficiently

• Assist with course setup and preparation for tournaments and special events

• Monitor turf conditions and report issues to the Superintendent

• Assist with irrigation system operation and basic troubleshooting

• Follow all safety procedures, environmental guidelines, and best management practices

• Assume leadership responsibilities in the Superintendent’s absence when needed

Educational Requirements

Turfgrass degree or coursework is a plus, but not required

Experience Requirements

Qualifications

• Previous experience in golf course maintenance, turf management, landscaping, or a related field

• Basic knowledge of turfgrass maintenance practices (cool-season grass experience preferred)

• Ability to safely operate golf course maintenance equipment

• Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail

• Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required during the season

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical labor on a regular basis

• Leadership or supervisory experience preferred but not required
