Position Summary:

As a Sewickley Heights Golf Club Grounds Intern / AIT, you will assist with daily golf course maintenance while gaining practical, hands-on experience in turfgrass management and golf course operations. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents in an educational, team-oriented environment that supports professional growth and continuous learning.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Daily mowing with walk-behind and riding units.
  • Work collaboratively with supervisors and team members to achieve goals.
  • Proper water management (hand watering, overhead, etc.).
  • Chemical and fertilizer applications (calibration, mixing, and application techniques).
  • Proper Course Set-up.
  • Cultural Practices (topdressing, aerification, moisture management, etc.)
  • Irrigation system maintenance.
  • Learn how to manage/motivate fellow teammates.
  • Practice professionalism in both appearance and demeanor.
  • Understand the importance of networking, development, and record keeping.
  • Ability to learn Microsoft office.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Early morning start times.
  • Often required to stand, walk, and use hands to operate machinery, tools or controls.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 30lbs occasionally.
  • Moderate exposure to weather and environmental conditions. (heat, rain, pollen, etc.
  • Moderate exposure to machinery. (gas, diesel, vibrations)
  • Sometimes work extended hours during golfing and holiday season.
  • Work weekends.

Educational Requirements

Either enrolled in school, graduated, or plan to enroll in a turf program.

Experience Requirements

Experience is recommended, but we are willing to work with anyone that is eager to learn and dive into the turfgrass profession.

$18 to $21 per hour
