The Golf Course was built by Charles Blair MacDonald and Seth Raynor in 1911, during a time period that is now referred to as the "Golden Age of Golf". MacDonald included all key features of course architecture including the Redan, Road Hole, Biarritz, Eden, Knoll and Short templates. Piping Rock Club strives to marry fast and firm playing conditions with the architecture.
The ideal candidate is a motivated turf professional with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a passion for maintaining classic golf architecture at the highest level. The position is well-suited for an individual seeking hands-on experience, leadership development, and exposure to a diverse, high-profile property.
Position Overview
The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent will work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents in all aspects of golf course and property maintenance. This individual will be involved in both hands-on turf management and leadership responsibilities, playing a key role in daily operations, long-term planning, and staff development.
The position provides exposure to a diverse and expansive operation, with responsibility across approximately 350 acres of maintained property, including:
18 hole-Championship Golf Course
4-acre driving range tee
Practice greens and chipping area
16 grass tennis courts
11 outdoor Har-Tru tennis courts
Paddle and croquet courts
Skeet and trap shooting facilities
Clubhouse landscapes, internal roads, and a designated dog-walking area
Our team also maintains a Beach Club located 4 miles north of the main club on the shores of the Long Island sound. They will also be highly involved with water management, pesticide and fertilizer applications, irrigation system maintenance and repair and staff training.

Educational Requirements
Certificate, 2 or 4-year degree preferred but not required. Will accept future online graduates. Ability to obtain NYS Pesticide License.
