Seasonal Intern
Thousand Acres Golf Club is a semi-private golf club located in western Maryland on Deep Creek Lake, in Swanton, Maryland. The front 9 opened in 2008 and the back 9 was built in 2021 with a grand opening in May 2023. The golf course consists of A1/A4 Bentgrass greens and Declaration Bentgrass on tees and fairways. The roughs are predominantly Tall Fescue with Fine Fescue in the out of play areas. The golf season typically runs from April 1 through November 15.
This internship offers a great learning opportunity and a great climate to live and work. We don't have the high heat and humidity that most regions have and its enjoyable to grow turfgrass in this area. You won't work until dark each day and you will learn and grow into a successful turfgrass manager.
Our turfgrass intern will have many opportunities to learn and grow your skills. This program will include, but not limited to:
Course Setup
Water Management
Mowing/Rolling
IPM Scouting and decision making within thresholds
Fertilizer/Pesticide applications
Irrigation installation and repair
Project leadership
Any topics the intern wants to learn
Educational Requirements
Currently enrolled in a 2 or 4 yr degree or certiicate program in turfgrass management or equivalent
Experience Requirements
Entry level experience is acceptable but the individual must be dedicated to learning how to manage turf and personnel
Special Requirements
TAGC is looking for a motivated individual expecting to learn and succeed in the turf management industry. You will learn a lot and expectations are to be involved in all daily planning and projects.
