A major championship venue and no stranger to the spotlight Quail Hollow Club is a well-rounded private facility that offers a championship golf course, multiple short game areas, an expansive courtyard plus outdoor event area, and other amenities for members and their guests. We are currently expanding our Horticulture team and have an opportunity as Landscape Superintendent.
The Landscape Superintendent reports directly to the Director of Green and Grounds and works alongside the Golf Course Superintendent and is responsible for all ornamental hardscapes, landscapes, trees, and landscape beds throughout the property. This person ideally has a green thumb, loves the game of golf, and excels with installations and team building.

Educational Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree In Horticulture (or related field, such as landscape architecture) with minimum of 3 years’ experience in the field or Associate Degree with 5 years of field experience.
- Have or obtain ISA Arborist Certification.
- Have or obtain a North Carolina Pesticide Applicators License in Turf and Ornamentals.
Experience Requirements
As the Landscape Superintendent, you will have experience and be able to perform the following job-related tasks:
- Hire, train, and manage a staff to produce at a high level. Focusing on horticultural installation and maintenance techniques.
- Develop annual operating budget for Horticulture department and advise on capital needs.
- Ability to work with landscape architects and club leaders on new installations and renovations.
- Evaluate existing landscape presentations and make recommendations for improvement based on aesthetic and horticultural knowledge.
- Source plant material and landscape supplies for large projects as well as general landscape improvements.
- Monitor tree inventory throughout the property and develop a "Best Management Plan" that focuses on theories, practices, and principles of Horticulture, Entomology, and Agriculture.
- Monitor clubhouse grounds and landscape beds throughout for overall plant health and watering requirements.
- Develop IPM programs and be responsible for applications of pesticides and fertility treatments for trees, ornamentals, and flowers.
- Develop pruning plan that enhances the health and aesthetics of the landscape throughout the property.
- Purchase and maintain nursery stock.
- Maintain accurate records of horticultural fertilizer and pesticides applications and plant material.
- Provide safety training for the staff and ensure that the safety requirements are met.
Special Requirements
- Able to understand and appreciate excellence in garden design and plant care specific to landscape plants in Southeast.
- Communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization while also exercising good judgement and effective decision making based on accurate and timely analysis.
- Must be able to maintain a flexible work schedule with the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Lift and carry up to 50lbs, move for long periods of time, and operate machinery as the job requires.
- Ability to successfully pass a drug screening and criminal background check.
