Golf Course Assistant Superintendent- The General Golf Course at Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa
PURPOSE AND PERFORMANCE GOALS
Follows established department operational standards. Is responsible for maintaining and managing all aspects of golf course maintenance and construction and provides input and data into the sustainability and improvement of the facility. As part of the leadership team for the department, directs and oversees execution of all daily Greenskeeper essential duties and responsibilities. Compiles daily verbal and written reports of all operational functions of the golf course and its’ staff along with recommendations and observations of successes and challenges that are present. Observes compliance with corporate standards, local, state and national codes and regulations to protect the asset, guests and Associates, to ensure optimum operations, minimize expenses, and maximize guest satisfaction.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):
- Creates a high-performance team of co-workers while maintaining a positive, SAFE, challenging, enjoyable work environment.Recruit, train, develop, and recognize, coach and counsel Associates of facility.
- Per maintenance specifications, directs and supervises the maintenance of greens, fairways, tees, sand traps, bodies of water, roughs, maintenance shop and grounds, cart maintenance, and clubhouse maintenance.
- Responsible for assisting the Golf Course Superintendent in the tracking of maintenance expenses (payroll, supplies, fertilizers, chemicals, etc.).
- Directly oversees the development, training, coaching, rewarding, disciplining and mentoring of Greenskeepers in accordance to all departmental standards.
- Directly prepares Greenskeepers’ weekly schedule, duties, tasks, and follows up per company standards in accordance to Golf Course Superintendent supervision
- Conduct daily scouting of golf course on all weed and pest infestations
- Calibrates, coordinates, and / or applies proper application of all fertilizer and pesticide treatments.
- Assists Mechanics in equipment repair and maintenance.
- Schedules, troubleshoots, and help repair irrigation components.
- Provides input into the purchases, supplies, and materials within budgetary limitations.
- Assist in inspection of equipment for operating deficiencies and make recommendations to Mechanic.
- Observes compliance with all local, state, and national codes with accurate permits, laws, and licenses.
- Provides information and recommendations on annual reviews of all subordinate Associates.
- Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
- Provides daily and weekly reports on conditions, tasks, projects, and issues that pertain to the golf course and its Associates to the Golf Course Superintendent both verbally and written.
- Provides consistent communication with subordinate Associates on news, notes, practices, and any changes in policies as set forth by the Golf & Grounds Manager.
- Maintains flexibility to take on new and different tasks as directed by the Golf Course Superintendent.
- As need arises or as instructed, must be willing to work with other departments or individuals.
- Attend weekly department and managerial meetings.
- Coordinates and assists in snow removal as needed which include plowing, skid steer operation, hand shoveling of sidewalks and application of ice melt.
- Helps develop and initiate all golf course projects, annual budgets, and capital plans.
- Assists in all essential duties of Greenskeeper including mowing, course setup, and specialized projects as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Two or four-year degree in agronomy, turf management or related field, or equivalent related work experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must be able to communicate clearly with guests, customers, supervisors and fellow Associates orally and written.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Must be able to calculate amounts and apply basic addition, subtraction and multiplication.
REASONING ABILITY
Must be able to analyze data to make appropriate judgments regarding duties. Provide innovation and creativity to sustain maximum efficiency in company operations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Valid Driver’s License
- State Pesticide License-or willing to get license
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Practice written safety standards and rules at all times.

HOURS
Due to the business demands of the hospitality industry, and the fact that the hotel provides guest services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, any employee may be required to work rotating shifts, including weekends, night shifts, and/or overtime. Also, depending on business demands, hours may be reduced at any time.
Pay starting at $20 per hour.
