Sports Turf Manager or Grounds Supervisor/Manager job
I have been working in the sports turf industry for over two decades, beginning to work as a groundskeeper in 2003. I have experience working in a variety of fields and grounds. This includes large scale landscaping, high school grounds and athletic fields, college fields at the University of Florida, to professional baseball facilities and soccer stadiums, working the 2009 season for the Baltimore Orioles and Assisted with World Cup qualifier in October 2017 and MLS all-star game in 2019 at Inter&Co Stadium under Matt Bruderek and Bill Hoffer (former grounds managers for the stadium)
I currently oversee the city of Harrisonburg’s fields which include 20 acres of surfaces that range from football, soccer, baseball, softball and their surrounding areas. In two year’s time I helped the crew win field of the year for our Smithland Athletic Complex football field, field of the year at our adult fields and for Ramblewood Complex for 2023, 2024 and 2025 through the Virginia Sports Fields Managers Association.
I have a passion for working in the outdoors, and enjoy the challenge of an ever changing environment. I uphold myself to a high standard of facility preparation and a meticulous attention to detail. I am accustomed to working in physically demanding positions that often require 16 to 18 hour days. Quick decision making has been essential in these positions, from in climate weather, to high field use.
I pride myself on the ability to work independently as I am very self motivated. But I also consider myself a team player and I am accustomed to working with a variety of people from all backgrounds and ages. In my current position I oversee 4 full time employees and 2 part time crew members. I have experience operating machinery such as front end loaders, reel and rotary mowers, PTO powered aerifiers and verticutters.
I feel that there is always work to be done and seek additional responsibilities at each of my jobs. I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss how my skills may be of value to you. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Thank you
