Assistant Superintendent-in-Training               Position Availability - Immediate

Our Golf Course

Green Hills Country Club is a private, 18-hole facility located in the hills of Millbrae, CA. Renowned golf course architect, Dr. Alister MacKenzie designed the course, which opened in 1930.  Relatively speaking, there have been very few fundamental design alterations to his original layout. We have a Rainbird Cirrus irrigation system utilizing decoders in lieu of satellite controllers. Our greens are predominantly Poa annua, with the fairways and tees a mix of bentgrass, ryegrass and Poa annua.                                            

Responsibilities 

Work in concert with the Superintendent and the Assistant Superintendents in the following areas:

  •     The application of all turf care products (fertilizers, pesticides, etc.)
  •      Assist in all areas of crew management
  •      Assess irrigation needs and program the computer
  •      Golf course set-up and communication with the golf shop
  •      Working as a liaison with the equipment repair department
  •      Evaluate and report agronomic needs throughout the course
  •      Weekend supervisor responsibility

Educational Requirements

The club will help subsidize an education as necessary.  Education is not a prerequisite.

Qualifications 

Green Hills Country Club would like to assist an individual in entering the field of turfgrass management in a managerial capacity. As such, the club will not be requiring previous education in this field as a prerequisite to employment. Additionally, the club will help defray the expense of a formal turfgrass education moving forward. Work experience on a golf course is required for this position. Foremost, applicants must possess a strong work ethic, an eye for perfection and a will to learn.  A California Qualified Applicators Certificate must be obtained within six months of hire. Applicants must possess a valid drivers license.

  •   $45,000 to $50,000 annual salary
