Golf Course Superintendent
Ticonderoga Golf Course (TGC) is a top class 18-hole public golf course located in the Lord Howe Valley at the northern tip of Lake George near the Vermont boarder in historic Ticonderoga, NY. The course has been operating for over 100 years, has been significantly improved over the past 7 years and features 16 new greens, tee boxes and fairways. Additionally, the club house, Seymour’s Restaurant, Tap Room and Patio are new and enhance the TGC experience. TGC has seen a significant increase in play making this an exciting time to join our team.
Position:
The Golf Course Superintendent oversees the maintenance and long-term stewardship of the golf course and related grounds. The role requires strong agronomic knowledge, hands-on leadership, and disciplined budget management. This position reports directly to the General Manager and works closely with ownership and the Board on course conditions and improvement initiatives.
Duties and responsibilities
- Maintain greens, tees, fairways, bunkers, and rough to established standards
- Develop and execute agronomic programs for turf health, irrigation, and drainage
- Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise the maintenance staff
- Prepare and manage the annual maintenance budget, controlling labor and material costs
- Oversee equipment maintenance, repair, and replacement planning
- Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements
- Communicate regularly with management regarding course conditions and priorities
- Support tournaments, outings, and special events as required
Educational Requirements
- 2 year or higher certificate in golf & sports turf management or equivalent experience
Experience Requirements
- Class A or Class B Superintendent (or equivalent experience)
- 3–5+ years of golf course maintenance leadership experience
- Strong understanding of northern/seasonal turf management
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage budgets
- Excellent communication and organizational skills

Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: Competitive, commensurate with experience (target range $80,000–$90,000)
- Annual Bonus Opportunity: Performance-based, tied to course conditions, budget performance, and overall execution
