Turf Equipment Technician

The National Links Trust and Troon are excited to announce multiple openings for the position of Assistant Equipment Technician. The National Links Trust has taken over the lease of the 3 city golf courses in our nations capital. All 3 courses will be completely renovated in the next 7-10 years with the William Flynn designed Rock Creek Park the first to go under the knife in November of 2024. It is our vision to have an apprentice style program where we promote from within to fill the role of Equipment/Shop Manager following renovation. Once Rock Creek is finished it will have a brand new maintenance facility and $1.5 million dollars worth of new equipment.

 

The Assistant Equipment Technician will be based out of the Walter Travis designed East Potomac Park Golf Course located in the shadows of the Washington Monument. East Potomac is a 36 hole facility that has the distinction of being a place where the surrounding communities come together. The National Links Trust has a goal to promoting accessible, affordable and engaging municipal golf courses across the United States of America. This is an opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a very exciting project. Qualified individuals will have the opportunity to climb the career ladder in a short period of time while also mentoring the future equipment technicians of tomorrow.

Key Responsibilities of the Assistant Mechanic:

Overhauls and repairs maintenance vehicles, mowing equipment and other power equipment. 

Lubricates and services all equipment.

Inspects equipment for operating deficiencies and makes routine adjustments where necessary

 Maintains up-to-date understanding of hydraulic systems, repairs and their components.

Inspects, changes and repairs tires.

Assists in controlling tool access and use by maintenance staff.

Cleans working areas after repair work is completed.

Assists in fabricating, body repair and painting.

Adjusts cutting units on mowing equipment.

When servicing of equipment is complete, will assist on maintenance crew and may operate mowing equipment.

Assists in training the maintenance staff in the proper care and upkeep of the golf course equipment.

May be called upon to operate or train to operate various types of maintenance equipment.

Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.

Performs other duties as required.

Transports equipment from property to property .

 

 

Educational Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent. 

Must possess a valid drivers license. 

Experience Requirements

Small engine repair experience is a must. 

Golf course equipment repair is a plus.
