Assistant-in-Training
The Assistant-In-Training reports to the Director of Golf Courses and works alongside the turf management team to provide championship conditions on both courses daily. The ideal candidate must be motivated with the desire to advance in the golf course maintenance industry. The AIT will assist in fertilization and chemical applications, water management, irrigation repair, participate in daily maintenance practices, and become familiar with John Deere GPS sprayers, SubAir systems, and the Rainbird Irrigation system. The AIT will have the opportunity for advancement within the management team.
Educational Requirements
A 2- or 4-year degree in Turf Management is preferred, but not required.
Experience Requirements
Minimum 2 years of golf course maintenance experience.
Special Requirements
· Must have, or be able to obtain, a NYS pesticide applicators license.
· The ideal candidate must be self-motivated with a drive to succeed in a fast-paced team environment, and with the understanding of the commitment it takes to maintain two top 100 golf courses daily. The AIT will be an important member of the turf management team and will gain the skills and knowledge necessary to advance their career at Winged Foot Golf Club and, ultimately, in the golf course maintenance industry.
