Assistant-in-Training
Oyster Harbors Club is beginning a Gil Hanse designed master restoration plan this September 2024, and is looking for highly motivated candidates with a passion for golf and its history. The project consists of a full 18-hole course restoration to Donald Ross’s original design, a full irrigation redesign and construction, bunker reconstruction, as well as practice facility and driving range redesigns. Candidates will have the opportunity to work alongside world renowned architect Gil Hanse, and LaBar’s Golf Renovation and Irrigation installation division. Candidates must have prior golf course maintenance experience and will be expected to maintain daily championship conditions. An ideal assistant-in-training is a candidate who is looking for valuable golf course construction experience with the opportunity to advance into an assistant’s role within the Oyster Harbor team.
Educational Requirements
Certificate or 2-4 year degree in Turfgrass Management
Experience Requirements
Must have prior golf course experience.
Special Requirements
Massachusetts applicator license or the ability to obtain within 6 months.
Oyster Harbors Club is situated on Grand Island, Osterville on the southern shores of Cape Cod, MA. Founded in 1926, Oyster Harbors Club has become synonymous with championship caliber golf and the ultimate summer retreat. The 18-hole championship course is regarded as one of Donald Ross's last original designs and has remained one of New England's best kept secrets. Beginning in the Fall of 2024, the Club intends to re-establish Ross's original designs with the help of architect Gil Hanse. The enhancement plan includes the installation of a new pump house and full golf course irrigation system, finishing with Gil Hanse's master improvement plans.
