Golf Course

The River Club, a beautifully designed championship golf course by Greg Norman, presents a unique and compelling challenge for players of every level, while providing one of the most luxurious golf experiences in the greater Atlanta area.

Measuring nearly 7,200 yards, our par 72 golf course opened in 2005 and has become the focal point within The River Club community. The River Club has hosted two US Open local qualifiers and most recently the Georgia State Mid-Amateur Championship. From our meticulously maintained Tif Sport Bermudagrass fairways to our pristine A1/A4 Bentgrass greens, we work tirelessly to showcase an exceptional golfing environment to all our members and guests. 

 

Job Summary

The Second Assistant Superintendent is responsible for all golf course maintenance operations, and staff under the leadership of the First Assistant Superintendent and Golf Course Superintendent to ensure healthy growth of the golf course and clubhouse grounds grasses, trees, and other plant materials. The duties include assessing and providing guidance and expertise to maintain rigorous industry and environmental standards in turf quality, including use of specialized knowledge in various fields of agronomy and horticulture.

 

Daily Operations

·         Train and Implement Procedures for Golf Course Maintenance Staff

·         Perform Chemical and Fertilizer applications.

·         Daily water management of Greens, Tees, and Fairways

·         Daily evaluation of turf for wear, disease, moisture, cut quality, growth rate, etc.

·         Assign and develop work-efficient schedules to meet staffing needs of Golf Operations and as warranted, recruit and hire staff to provide superior level of member services.

·         Effective communication with staff, members, and other management.

Educational Requirements

Min 2-year College Agronomy Degree

Experience Requirements

·         2-3 years’ experience in Golf Course Maintenance

·         Ability to obtain a Pesticide Applicators License within 90 days of employment

·         Advanced knowledge of regulatory requirements and recordkeeping as required by local, state and federal laws

·         Diplomatic team player able to foster relationships with Members, employees, and guests.

·         Bilingual (English - Spanish) communication ability preferred
