Equipment Technician at Tunxis Country Club
Our Equipment Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the proper functioning and maintenance of our golf course maintenance equipment. This position requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems, attention to detail, and a passion for contributing to the overall success of our golf course operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Equipment Maintenance:
- Perform routine maintenance on golf course maintenance equipment, including reel and rotary mowers, tractors, utility vehicles, and other specialized machinery.
- Conduct thorough inspections to identify and address mechanical issues promptly.
- Keep accurate records of equipment maintenance schedules and repairs.
Troubleshooting and Repairs:
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues in a timely manner.
- Execute effective repairs to ensure minimal downtime of equipment.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to address urgent repair needs.
Inventory Management:
- Maintain an organized inventory of parts, tools, and equipment required for repairs.
- Coordinate with the procurement team to order necessary supplies and replacement parts.
Safety Compliance:
- Adhere to safety protocols and ensure all equipment meets industry safety standards.
- Train and educate other staff members on proper equipment usage and safety procedures.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with the golf course superintendent and other team members to prioritize and address equipment needs.
- Communicate effectively with suppliers and vendors to obtain necessary parts and support.
Educational Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience Requirements
- 2+ years of equipment maintenance experience working under a reputable supervisor
- Knowledge of Toro equipment preferred
Special Requirements
- Proven experience as an equipment technician, preferably in a golf course or turf management setting
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Maintains a preventive maintenance program within budget on all equipment & purchases repair parts & replacement supplies
- Strong knowledge of the operation of internal combustion engines, mower grinding, sharpening and adjustments
- Strong mechanical aptitude with expertise in diagnosing and repairing small engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
- Knowledge of reel and rotary cutting units, ensuring optimal quality of cut for all playing surfaces
- Proficient in interpreting repair manuals, instruction sheets, hydraulic & electrical schematics
- Inspect, diagnose, service & repair mechanical or electric issues on all golf course maintenance equipment
- Torching/Welding repairs to equipment
- Demonstration of preventive maintenance, proper cleaning and safe operation of equipment to all golf course staff
