Assistant-in-Training
Entry level position who learns and works closely with the Superintendent and First Assistant Superintendent to provide excellent playing conditions for membership and guests. Small Crew supervising, operating equipment, executing cultural practices, irrigation operation and repair, hand watering and use of moisture meter, maintaining and assisting mechanic to repair equipment, assist in fertilization and chemical program, daily and tournament course setup, educating and training employees proper ways to operate equipment and complete tasks, tree work, must be able to lift over 50 pounds.
Club Information: Black Hall Club is a private golf club located in Old Lyme Connecticut.
Established in 1965, the course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. The greens are sand based Bentgrass/Poa, Bentgrass Fairways, Bentgrass Tees. Rainbird irrigation with HDPE pipes. Black Hall Club has hosted and will host major CSGA tournaments: Annually hosts Two
Man Championship, and CIAC High School Championship; 2015 Amateur, 2017 Mid-Amateur,
2019 Senior Amateur, 2021 Women’s Open, 2025 Connecticut Open
Educational Requirements
Turf degree, in turf school, or looking to attend turf school.
Experience Requirements
Prior experience with golf course maintenance or landscaping and desire to explore or pursue a career in Turfgrass Management preferred.
