Pelican’s 18- hole golf course, designed with inspiration from Donald Ross’ original layout can play to a par 70, stretches to 7000 yards and features lush greenery and landscaping, undulating green complexes and crushed quartz bunkers. Pelican Golf Club is nestled in the heart of beautiful Belleair, less than half a mile away from the Gulf Coast beaches and all year-round golf conditions that are some of the best in the state. Each November, THE ANNIKA driven by Gainbridge at Pelican brings the greatest female professional golfers in the world as well as many other high-profile events that keep our grounds maintenance crew busy throughout the year.

This Assistant ‘in training’ position will provide the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience with many aspects of turf management, including irrigation, chemical and fertilizer applications along with the many other cultural practices required to become an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent. The AIT will report directly to the Assistant Superintendent, Superintendent and Director of Agronomy whilst providing support in planning the strategies in both long- and short-term agronomic plans for both in season and during the summer maintenance closures. They will assist and oversee the day-to-day running of the crew whilst providing an extra set of eyes out on the golf course and oversee completion of work assignments by crew.

Pelican will help develop the skill set needed to become a Superintendent and set you up on a good path for a career in the golf course maintenance industry.

Typical Daily tasks:

·         Pesticide and fertilizer application and calibration

·         Water Management of greens, tees and fairways including hand watering and syringing

·         Irrigation trouble shooting

·         Mowing out all surfaces

·         Course setup including cutting cups.

Hourly rate is negotiable depending on experience.
