Golf Course Superintendent
Half Moon Bay Golf Links has two 18 hole courses located on the coast of Northern California. This position will have a significant role in overseeing the daily maintenance and operations of the golf course/grounds maintenance department as well as contributing to the decision making processes. A hands-on/lead by example mentality and ability to work along side the team is important.
Responsibilities include: training, developing, and scheduling the crew, scouting for disease and pests, preparing/applying chemical applications. Diagnosing and ability to repair irrigation issues, and moisture management of all playing surfaces. On occasion the Superintendent will perform general golf course maintenance duties as needed. The successful candidate will be a positive leader, motivator, and will act as a mentor to our team.
Educational Requirements
Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school is preferred
Bachelor's degree or equivalent from a four-year college or technical school is preferred
Suitable courses of study: Turf grass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture or related field
Experience Requirements
Strong leadership, team-building, and interpersonal skills
Irrigation experience, including troubleshooting, repairs, programming, watering
Experience calibrating, applying, and monitoring chemical and fertilizer applications
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to operate general golf course maintenance equipment
Special Requirements
Must be able to attain California QAL/QAC within 60-days of employment
